Alev Lenz, is a remarkable songwriter/composer/singer, whose music fuses filmic, world and classical influences.
Alev Lenz’s recent releases include the beautifully haunting track for ‘Fall Into Me’ – the lead song featured in the Season Finale of the new Black Mirror series by Charlie Brooker – and a video for ‘If Love’, directed by model, Olympian, and Cannes / San Francisco Black Film Festival-nominated Savanah Leaf. In contrast to ‘Fall Into Me’, ‘If Love’ explores the idea of a world full of love, and has been well received amongst international blogs.
Alev Lenz’s vocals have also been featured on Anoushka Shankar’s “Land of Gold”.
Those who have listened to Alev Lenz before will recognise her bittersweet voice and utterly personal lyrics, loaded with melodic flavours and inspiring hooks that take you by surprise, off kilter harmonics and deep and compelling song structures, which have often been compared to songstresses like Fiona Apple and Regina Spektor.
Alev Lenz’s self released album, “Two-Headed Girl”, is already listed as one of albums of 2016, and has been described by Vulture Hound as being “made up of some of the most intricate and mesmerising percussion work you’ll hear on a pop record”. It is available on iTunes now.
Having worked on the album with Jas Shaw of Simian Mobile Disco and acclaimed Finnish drummer, Samuli Kosminen (Múm, Hauschka, Kronos Quartet, Jónsi), the result is an album that demonstrates a diverse set of influences, from European classical to experimental electronics that Alev Lenz likes to call “sophisticated pop”.
