Following the success of her remix of Flight Facilities’ “Two Bodies” (which reached number 2 on Hype Machine), Henri is set to release on 2nd December 2016 two infectious melodic house tracks, “Fine Day” and “I See Ice Cream”.
The first track on the EP is “Fine Day” – an elegant cover of Opus III’s early 90s cult classic. Henri‘s version features Icelandic actress and singer Aníta Briem’s hypnotic, breathy vocals, which are layered over an interweaving synth arpeggio and repetitive piano chords. It will instantly put its listeners into a blissful state of trance.
Applebottom – one of the UK’s most respected young DJ/producers – provides a late night remix of “Fine Day” on the EP, complimenting the original with its more sparse production and deeper synth hooks. With releases on MadTech, Eton Messy, and Black Butter Records under his belt, Applebottom has garnered support for both originals and remixes, from the likes of Annie Mac and Pete Tong, and a recent stint of DJing alongside Kidnap Kid has resulted in the release of “The Ride,” via Kidnap Kid’s label, Birds That Fly.
As quoted by Kauf, the second track on the EP, “I See Ice Cream,” is “the perfect sunrise track – joyous and hopeful with just the right build and release.” Its four-bar chord loop gradually develops and opens up until it reaches a euphoric climax adorned with lush, psychedelic synth sounds in the final chorus.
There is an additional vocal mix of “I See Ice Cream,” with abstract, utopian spoken word lyrics reminiscent of The Orb, and Henri‘s catchy debut single, “It’s Like This, It’s Like That.”
Henri invites you to turn off your mind, relax and float downstream. This EP will take you on a mesmerising journey you can experience again and again, and miraculously never get sick of.
