Meet Swedish starlet RAINDEAR.
Her stunning debut album, “Embers” is musically big and bold, full of trippy dance beats, arresting Eastern-styled hooks, disarmingly catchy melodies and synth symphonies. It’s a personal and uncompromising body of work that consists of tracks made out of etheric matter that constantly floats around in space only to land in RAINDEAR’s world.
Lyrically the songs are about life, death and all of the weirdness in between. They romanticise a certain kind of melancholy and hopelessness while also addressing such existential and universal subjects as destructive love, humanity’s failures, war, cults, greed and living ‘inside the box’.
RAINDEAR, aka Rebecca Bergcrantz wrote and produced most of the album herself in Malmo, Sweden. During the process she brought her sleeping bag to the studio and set up camp, surrounded herself in a creative bubble and completely cut off from reality. She ate crisps, had no social interaction with the outside world, living and breathing the album obsessively until it was done.
RAINDEAR grew up immersed in music…both her parents are jazz musicians and are a massive inspiration for her. She sang and wrote songs from a very young age and was destined to carve a career in music for herself.
Visually striking, Raindear has a keen sense of style mixing gypsy, gothic, vintage and classic to create her own unique look that has led to various modelling assignments. Beauty, fierce talent and a killer debut album…watch out for this girl…
